Travel Trade Barometer Program
The Travel
Trade Barometer (TTB)
is a qualitative survey reporting
bookings and projecting bookings to the United States. The
trade-focused quarterly survey collects input from active travel trade
working in-country to sell and promote travel to the United States.
The Travel Trade Barometer is currently active in the following
markets:
United Kingdom
Mexico
Germany
Canada
The quarterly report provides U.S. companies, destinations, and
in-country trade with a non-biased, timely, and accurate bookings
review, a short-term forecast on bookings/travel demand, and insight on
market conditions.
Travel Market Insights (TMI) administers the Barometer in partnership
with the Travel Industry Associciation (TIA). The U.S. Department of
Commerce, Office of Travel and Tourism Industries originally
established the Travel Trade Barometer program in 2000 with TMI, and
later expanded the program to measure and monitor the U.S. recovery
from 9/11 and the war on terrorism. The Office of Travel and Tourism
Industries continues to be a sponsor and a strong advocate for the
Barometer.
TIA is the national,
non-profit organization representing all components of the $703 billion
travel industry. TIA's mission is to represent the whole of the U.S.
travel industry to promote and facilitate increased travel to and
within the United States.
Additional country Barometer's can be established in partnership with
